The Yoga and Wellness Collective

I am so very excited to begin to share a vision of expansion! Please welcome The Yoga and Wellness Collective! As the building I am in has transitioned opening more space, we are dedicated to growing the yoga on the low level, with more teachers. My massage practice, with space for private sessions, has moved to the upper level.

The teachers included currently are myself, Erin Moss of Rowan Tree Yoga, Dana Stough of Yoga DNikki Hollandsworth and Katy Hinz.

Please stay tuned as we grow to include more yoga classes, meditation, and workshops!

To bring together professionals in the field of therapeutic health, healing, and wellness to create a group dedicating our time, energy, and resources to assisting each individual to regain and maintain their health by working harmoniously together to achieve that goal. We focus on facilitating the body’s innate self healing process regardless of a patient’s age, gender, sexual orientation, or creed to bring spiritual, emotional, physical, mental pain relief, and prevention such as through, but not limited to: yoga, massage therapy, Reiki, and other forms of natural health practices.

We commit ourselves to the ongoing process of educating the community, empowering them to take a more active role in their own wellness. We will treat all clients/students/patients and each other with kindness, compassion, and respect.

Santosha

In Monday’s meditation, we talked about connection, contentment, and gratitude. Santosha is one of the limbs of Yoga that means contentment. And, I believe connection and gratitude are both a product of and a means to feeling content.

If we pause in the present moment and feel gratitude for one thing in our life, we feel connected to that thing, be it a person, situation, or idea of how things are; and that equates to feeling content with our lives as they are. Maybe not perfect, probably not perfect, as that is a very limited view of things. Perfection is just our idea of how we think things should be based on past patterning of the mind. The only perfect thing is what is happening in the moment, this is where we are, who we are, and what we’ve created our life to be.

This moment. Pause. Feel gratitude. Connect. Be content.

Aham Brahmasmi II

Here is an Aham Brahmasmi meditation from The Chopra Center:

Aham Brahmasmi (ah-HUM brah-MAHS-mee) is a Sanskrit sutra whose English translation is “the core of my being is the ultimate reality, the root and ground of the universe, the source of all that exists.” When we repeat this sutra and let it resonate deep within, we expand our awareness of our eternal, unbounded nature. Here is a sutra practice you can use right now:

Begin by meditating for a few minutes, then imagine that you are a crystal bead. You reflect the light of every being in the universe, and your light is reflected in them. Silently repeat the words “Aham Brahmasmi” and continue to envision yourself as a beautiful jewel, reflecting and absorbing the light of the entire universe. Rest in the silence and feel the expansiveness of your being – an expression of the infinite field of intelligence and all possibilities.

Aham Brahmasmi

Last week’s meditation was with the Sanskrit sutra Aham Brahmasmi. Brahman means spirit, so: “I am spirit soul.”

When we realize that the core of our being is interconnected with all, we can move from a place of positive creation and intention. We used it as a mantra practice breathing in: Aham (I am), breathing out: Brahmasmi (the Creative Principle). “What you magnetize in your mind, you will bring into your life,” according to Goswami Kriyananda. He has also said there is a time delay, it’s not immediate. We must keep directing our thoughts toward the positive, letting go of those that aren’t in our best interest.

Observe your thoughts today. What intentions are you calling in? What do you want for your highest purpose? What are you devoting your time and energy toward? Are you sharing those intentions with another and holding that intention together? This is how we stay on the path. Please share your intentions in the comments for inspiration!

Meditation Cuts Depression, Anxiety, Pain

As a long time meditator, I personally know how beneficial the practice of meditation can be. For thousands of years, meditation has been touted as “the way”. This path guides us to inner peace, well-being, detachment, and clear, intuitive seeing.Through meditation, the final goal of yoga: bliss, union, happiness is achieved.
